The Campaign named Swachhata Hi Seva (Cleanliness is Service) initiative under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan introduced by honable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi.
On September 15, 2017, Swachhta Hi Seva’ (cleanliness is service) was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind from Ishwarganj village in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The aim of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan battle for cleanliness and hygiene free India by October 2, 2019. The main purpose of the campaign will be to reach out to the poor and marginalised and provide them with sustainable sanitation services.
The initiative, which is being coordinated by the ministry of drinking water and sanitation, will include ‘sharamdaan’ or voluntary work and will focus on mass mobilisation and reinforce ‘jan andolan’ for sanitation to contribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India.
The government has identified special dates during the campaign period, with 17 September being reserved for voluntary work and cleanliness and construction of toilets at very large scale. It will also target cleaning of offices, school, public and tourist places too.
Many celebrities such as Akshay Kumar, Rajnikant, Sachin Tendulkar, Anushka Sharma have also pledged their support honable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” mission. Day by day more celebrities join “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” mission.
A recent Bollywood film titled “Toilet – Ek Prem Katha” based on the Swachh Bharat Mission witnessed considerable box office success.
